The term arthritis indicates a rheumatic disease that affects joints, the tissues which surround the joint, and other connective tissue. The word arthritis means joint inflammation, and is used to define over 100 rheumatic conditions. These conditions are indicated by pain, stiffness, and swelling in and around your joints. The following article will help you recognize the symptoms of arthritis.

 Steps

  • Age is a determining factor. You are at a higher risk of having arthritis as you grow older.

  • Be aware that there are types of arthritis that are modifiable, meaning they can be altered or the degree lessened. Modifiable risk factors include:

    • Obesity. Being overweight contributes to the onset and advancement of knee osteoarthritis.

  • Pain in or around joint.

  • Swelling around the joint.

  • Understand that arthritis is most often a never-ending disease. Symptoms may appear and disappear or they may linger a long time.

  • Know that despite the fact that there is no cure for most types of arthritis, early diagnosis and proper management are essential, particularly for inflammatory forms of arthritis.

  • One in seven Americans will be diagnosed with arthritis at some point in their lifetimes. Let’s look at the process.

     Tips

Natural remedies are often preferred by people who do not like taking too many pharmaceuticals and where the ailment is minor and can safely be treated at home.  This wikiHow provides a group of natural remedies for minor ailments that may be of some assistance. Of course, this is purely informational and you should seek professional health advice for any diagnosis or treatment suited to your own needs.
     Steps
Use a lemon to cure headaches
The membrane (the pockets left after you get out the juice out) can be dried, rinsed and eaten for headaches. Or, add three or four slices of lemon to a cup of tea and drink.[1] Another method is to rub a slice of lemon against the temple and forehead when the head is throbbing.[2]
Sugar can calm hiccups. Sugar can be placed on the back of the throat for hiccups. Swallow one teaspoon of sugar all at the same time.[3]
Try ground cinnamon for headaches. Mix ground cinnamon with water into a paste and applied to the temples for headaches. It is said that this remedy works for headaches caused by exposure to cold winds.[4] Take care though, as some migraine sufferers claim that cinnamon is a headache trigger owing to its tannin content.[5]
Try peppermint for a stomach ache. Use peppermint in its dried plant form. It can be made into a tea and consumed to ease bellyaches.[6][7]
Use glucosamine for arthritis pain. Glucosamine is  effective. Take glucosamine to help with osteoarthritis pain instead of using pain relievers like Aspirin or Tylenol and it really does ease painful joints.

     Tips

Remedies should be taken in very small doses. If in doubt, do not use it. Always seek professional health advice suited to your own needs.
